Prep extra-curricular activities
Extra-curricular
Stover operates an extensive extra-curricular programme of outdoor pursuits. Pupils who wish to represent the school at sport will be expected to regularly attend club sessions for their respective sports.
Golf
Stover School Golf Academy encourages all our pupils to try their hand at golf. With equipment supplied and using our short course with putting green, target golf and a bunker area, all pupils have the perfect opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge of the game. Stover is a member of the Independent Schools Golf Association and our golfers have played in several golf competitions.
Tennis
The tennis programme at Stover has been sensitively designed to complement the school's academic timetable. Squad sessions run for ¾ hour on a rota basis,
over a 3 week cycle. Our competitive approach helps pupils develop both on and off the court and many of these skills can be taken across into other aspects of their lives.
Horse Riding Club
At Stover pupils are given the opportunity to take riding lessons and extend their skills in horse riding at the local stables. Here, pupils are put into groups according to their ages and ability. These lessons are interspersed with hacks over Dartmoor National Park and picnic rides in the summer term. Other activities include:
Art Basketball Dance Orchestra School Choir Ecological Gardening
Speech and Drama Chess Art & Craft T-Shirt Printing Ultimate Frisbee
Scrap Book Ballet Activity Club ICT Spanish
There is supervised homework available to pupils from Years 3 - 9 on a daily basis after school.
Pupils who wish to represent the school at sport will be expected to attend club sessions for their respective sports. Please note in the event of an away fixture running into after school club times, fixtures take priority
Please take some time with your child to discuss the options available before filling in this form. Some clubs prove very popular. Whilst we shall endeavour to offer each child their first choice this may not always be possible. Therefore, please indicate a second choice on any afternoon you wish your child to stay until 5pm. Pupils will be informed of respective clubs by their class teacher.
* Chess Club. We are proposing a £5 charge per child for the term. This will allow us to arrange 2 or 3 group coaching sessions run by one of the Devon County Junior Team managers. These will take place during club sessions.
# The Art and Craft Club on Friday will be a repeat of the Tuesday activity. Pupils should therefore choose either a Tuesday or a Friday if they wish to join this club.
