What Form Does the Scholarship and Entrance Test Take?
ACADEMIC
All pupils will sit written tests in:

English paper including extension paper (approx 1 - 1.5 hours)

Mathematics paper including extension paper (approx 1 - 1.5 hours)
-
Non-verbal Reasoning (approx 1 hour)
The school uses standard NFER Nelson tests for each appropriate age group. This gives a consistent level of marking for each pupil. The school may set its own extension papers in English and Mathematics designed to stretch the most academic candidates.
Pupils who achieve the highest academic performances in these tests will be considered for academic scholarship awards. Pupils who perform in excess of expectations but below award levels may receive an Entrance Prize.
Art, Music or Sport Award
For those pupils who have entered for the above examinations they will include:-
ART

MUSIC
(Standard should be Grade 4/5)
SPORT
A Major Scholarship may be awarded to a good "all rounder" in major games (netball, rugby, hockey, football, rounders, cricket, cross country, athletics, gymnastics and tennis). Minor Scholarships may be given for individuals who have strengths in a limited range of sports, or a particular sport. Stover does not usually consider applicants who only have strengths in an activity which is not offered by the school.
