Scholarships Year 12
ENTRY INTO STOVER SIXTH FORM
There are a number of Scholarships and Bursaries available for pupils entering Stover Sixth Form. Candidates must complete the scholarship application form and return to the Registrar with a letter if required for the Head of Sixth Form. External candidates will also need to supply a current school report. Recommendations for awards may also be made by staff for current Stover pupils.
Sixth Form Academic Scholarship Examinations take place in November prior to entry the following September. Pupils are able to stay the night if they are applying for boarding places, please make prior arrangements with the Registrar.
Major Academic Awards
All candidates will sit the CAT tests (NFER Cognitive Abilities Test 3); have an interview with Head of Sixth Form or Sixth Form Senior Tutor. They will be expected to achieve A/A* grades across a range of GCSE subjects and achieve at least grade B in their chosen A-Level subject.
Subject Awards
All Candidates must apply in writing for a subject award; they will be expected to achieve a grade A/B at A-level in their chosen subject. External candidates will need to provide a school report and predicted GCSE grades.
Exhibition Awards
Exhibition awards are offered to pupils, who have shown dedication and hard work in a subject or citizenship capacity.
Means Tested Scholarships
As part of a our public benefit initiative Stover school is offering two means tested Scholarships, the Maurice Key and Laurus Sixth Form Scholarships. These are tenable for two years and up to 100% remission of day fees is available:
Maurice Key Sixth Form Scholarship
This scholarship is for those with excellent academic potential and who are expected to achieve grade A/B in the subjects at A Level. Candidates will be expected to have been predicted A/A* grades in a range of GCSE subjects.
Laurus Scholarship
This scholarship is for a candidate currently studying in the maintained sector who would love the chance to change school. Candidates must have good academic potential and will be expected to provide school reports and predicted GCSE grades.
Business or Management Scholarship
A Minor Business or Management Scholarship is available for a pupil who would like to guarantee a place at the University of Plymouth to read Business or Management, subject to meeting the entry criteria. Candidates would need to take Business Studies at A Level.
Recommendations for awards may also be made by staff for current Stover pupils.
Art, Music or Sport Award
For those pupils who have entered for these examinations they will include:-

MUSIC
(Candidates should be approaching Grade 8 on their first instrument and have passed Grade 5 Theory)
SPORT
A Major Scholarship may be awarded to a good "all rounder" in major games (netball, rugby, hockey, football, rounders, cricket, cross country, athletics, gymnastics and tennis). Minor Scholarships may be given for individuals who have strengths in a limited range of sports, or a particular sport. Stover does not usually consider applicants who only have strengths in an activity which is not offered by the school.
