Sixth Form Life

The Sixth From centre consists of individual study spaces, a kitchen (where there is an endless supply of toast, tea and coffee) and a large communal space with television, pool table and table football. Whilst the Sixth Form Centre is a place for study, it is also a social space where you can relax and enjoy yourselves. We encourage all of you to run charity events and lead the school with fundraising and the staff versus student hockey, netball and football are key events in the calendar!

The Centre also houses a number of computers with access to the Internet, three printers and a range of university prospectuses.  We would encourage all of you to bring your own laptop as you can then work in the comfort of your study, all of which have internet connection.

During the two years in the Sixth Form students take greater responsibilities both for their own learning and throughout the school. Positions of responsibility include House Captains, Head Girl/Boy and Deputy Head Girl/Boy. These are key roles and are great for your application to university. As well as this we offer all students the opportunity to take a First Aid course whilst in the Sixth Form as part of your Citizenship Programme.  You are encouraged to become involved with all aspects of school life, and being as active as possible through PE and the outdoor education programme is encouraged. Our weekly Community hour and quiz are designed to extend learning outside of lessons and increase knowledge and understanding about current events.

You may be considering another subject that is currently not on offer in our curriculum. If this is the case, please talk to the Head of Sixth Form, as Stover is flexible and will always try to adapt to your requests.  From time to time AS and A Level courses are subject to syllabus changes, 2008 will see particular changes to details of AS Level specifications.

The Sixth Form is a place for hard work, fun, making lasting friendships, developing increased independence and confidence and being well equipped for life after Stover.
