Our Curriculum

At Stover you are an Individual.....

Class sizes are small and teachers and tutors know each student well. The tutor support system and pastoral care is particularly strong here. The sixth form is a positive, friendly place where each individual is made to feel part of things. Extra curricular and sporting opportunities are numerous and exciting. With regular trips, excursions and social events also on offer, Stover sixth formers are active and happy.

Sixth formers follow a tailored timetable based on their choices, unaffected by "block columns". We offer a broad curriculum and new subjects are regularly introduced at student's requests. In recent years Business Studies, Critical Thinking, Media Studies, Photography, Health and Social Care and a City and Guilds in professional cookery have all been added to the curriculum.  Results are consistently excellent and our students regularly secure places at Britain's top universities. This year's leavers have offers including Linguistics at Cambridge, Medicine at Southampton, Medicine at Imperial, English at Nottingham and Chemistry and P.E at Loughborough.

During the two years in the Sixth Form students take greater responsibilities both for their own learning and throughout the school as, for example, prefects, House Captains, Head Girl/Boy and Deputy Head Girl/Boy. These are key roles and are great for application to university. As well as this we offer all students the opportunity to take a First Aid course whilst in the Sixth Form as part of their Citizenship Programme.  They are encouraged to become involved with all aspects of school life, and being as active as possible through PE and the outdoor education programme.

You may be considering another subject that is currently not on offer in our curriculum. If this is the case, please talk to the Head of Sixth Form, as Stover is flexible and will always try to adapt to your requests. In addition, there may be occasions where a subject will not run due to insufficient numbers; however we will always try to keep you informed of any changes.

The Sixth Form is a place for hard work, fun, making lasting friendships, developing increased independence and confidence and being well equipped for life after Stover.
