Head Girl
Message from our Head Girl
Hello! My name is Imogen Middleton and I'm proud to be Head Girl for Stover School and work along side Charlie Penny, our Head Boy. I've been at the school for eight years now, having joined in Year 5 in 2000; I consider myself to be a true "Stover girl"! I am currently studying History (which I hope to study at university next year), Geography and English Literature although I did enjoy French at AS Level. In my time at the school I have had the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, from the Duke of Edinburgh Award to various roles in the school production (including Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing last year) and, more recently, a Senior Prefects Conference at the Duke of York's Royal Military School in Dover. This gave me the chance to hone my leadership skills and come back in September armed with many new techniques to try out.
I take my role within the school very seriously. My job is to provide a positive role model to younger students, as well as acting as a sort of go-between for staff and pupils; both Charlie and I are consulted on a number of matters concerning changes within the school, which is something I take great interest in. Charlie and I rely on our fellow senior prefects for assistance if we are particularly snowed under; we all work as a close-knit team and look forward to the challenges that we will face this academic year. Every Head Girl is different and brings her own qualities to her role, for example Sophie, last year's Head Girl, brought her bubbly personality and energy to become someone everyone could talk to and was fantastic at bringing the school together. I hope to provide younger students with someone who they can look up to and not be afraid to approach to express any worries, much like how Sophie was but with my own "flavour"! Hopefully my peers and the younger students will be able to see that working hard and throwing themselves at any opportunity does have a positive result where you can achieve anything you want to.
I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenge of leading the students and representing the school this year.

Message from our Head Boy
Hello, my name is Charlie Penny and I am the first Head Boy in Stover School's history. I joined Stover School at the beginning of September 2007. Previously I was studying at South Dartmoor Community College in Ashburton. Since I joined Stover School I have had many opportunities I would never have considered doing before. I have completed the Ten Tors Challenge, walking 35 miles and breaking the school record, I have completed the community sports leaders award, Duke of Edinburgh's award and I have been a member of the Teignbridge Youth Council for two years. I have been sent on a Head Boy's conference at a school in Kent and I am often involved with making decisions about our sixth form. I am looking forward to this year, being able to use my role of responsibility to help students and act as a role model particularly for the younger boys in my school.
Being in Year 13 I spend much of my time in the Sixth form centre. The atmosphere is really vibrant, it is a hive of activity with students relaxing and studying (not at the same time!), making use of the pool table, the sofas, the kettle and toaster and the television, as well as catching up with current affairs with the two newspapers we receive everyday. Our Head of Sixth Form, Mr Wightman, and his right-hand man, Mr Baillie, do a fantastic job at keeping everything running smoothly and providing us with all the help we need for our UCAS applications for university, as well as organising regular curry nights, our Christmas dinner at a local pub and the weekly inter-form quiz (which is highly competitive!). Mr Wightman is a stickler when it comes to how sixth-formers use their study time; he encourages a positive work ethic where we sit down in our study rooms and get on with our work, something I believe is a necessary skill for the future.
