Senior Boarding
At Stover, we aim to create an environment in which our pupils have a variety of options available in which they can learn to be responsible for their education and each other. We also aim to provide a service where our pupils are supported in their studies and allowed to participate fully in school life. Stover pupils are encouraged to be courteous and kind.
Stover has a happy boarding community in which girls can enjoy life in a relaxed, shared community. Boarders live in either the Mansion House (up to Year 10) or Park House (Years 11-13). Younger girls live in dormitories where they develop friendships that can last a lifetime. Single or double study bedrooms are available for Sixth Form. Each house has a Common Room in which the girls can relax together in comfortable surroundings watching the television or a video/DVD on the sofa.
Senior boarders are given the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by participating in and organising activities for the Junior boarders. They also help to supervise prep and listen to the younger members of the boarding community read. In the Mansion House, junior boarders are able to make hot chocolate and toast in the Internet Cafe, there is also a tuck shop for snacks and sundries. After prep the all boarders enjoy activities, such as art club or sport. In the summer, ice-cream sundaes are a special treat! The Senior boarders needn't feel left out - they also have special treats such as ‘Exam De-stress Specials' (hot chocolate and whipped cream!).
When the lighter nights are with us, the girls can take advantage of the wonderful grounds for sport and recreation or just lying in the sun reading a book on the Terraces. Each boarding house is staffed by a Housemistress, an Assistant and an Assistant Tutor who all contribute towards offering a wide variety of fun activities in the evenings and weekends.
Weekends at Stover are fun, varied and action-packed! A full programme of activities is arranged for each term. Girls can enjoy trips to Paignton Zoo, the theatre and cinema, local cities such as Exeter and Plymouth and wider afield such as Bath where they can shop or take in the cultural opportunities available. Activities are also arranged in school where girls can learn self-defence, paint a mug, join in a treasure hunt, Judo, have a make-over and show off their talents at karaoke.
Flexible Boarding
Flexible boarding is available to all our days girls either regularly (for one or two nights per week) or as a one off sleep-over, for a night or perhaps more if parents are away. For more information please contact the Boarding Housemistress to ask about availability.
Boys Boarding
Boys are placed with local English host families, ensuring that our pupils have someone close at hand caring for your son, during term time, half term and exeat breaks. For more information please contact the Registrar.
All overseas boarders must have a guardian over the age of 25 living in the UK.
