Boarding Adventures - Spring Term
Quasar in Torquay
We went to Torquay and the first thing we did was to have a quick look around the shops. After that we went to play Quasar. Quasar is a bit like paintball, but you use light guns and so it does not hurt. We had to defend our base whilst attacking our opponents' base. I shot Mr Housecroft loads of times and our team won. It was really good and I really enjoyed. It was one of the best weekend's I have had so fur. It was also good fun for other people because it was their first time and they would love to go again. - Francesca Bennett
Sleepover at Stover
I had a great time sleeping over at Stover. I thought it was really fun and it was a very good experience. I was desperate to go, so my mum sent an email in the middle of the night to make sure that I got a place. Before we went to bed we made snowmen, gingerbread men and we had tea. We also had to do our prep. The thing I liked the best was the ‘sleeping' bit, it was so exciting that I could hardly sleep - it was fun! I woke up really early in the morning, then I got up and got dressed. It was a great sleepover. - Emily Wilkinson Yr 6
Boarders' trip to Taunton
We went to Taunton for the first time; it was so big with lots of shops. I bought lots of things and Maria, Mrs Fletcher and I went to County Stores for a drink. I had a hot chocolate and it was lovely especially as it was a cold day. Maria bought a note book for her Maths and I bought a flowery box for my phone chargers. - Heidi Chim Yr 6
Chinese New Year
I went to a café for hot chocolate with Claire and Becky and Maria. The hot chocolate was lovely especially as it was a cold day. Maria bought a note book for her maths and I bought a flowery box for my phone chargers. - Heidi Chim
On the first day of the Chinese New Year, 26th January, we had a Chinese meal in the dinning hall. There were lots of different foods to choose from and some of the day students from the Sixth Form came to join us.
Then we went to the Sixth Form Centre which had been decorated all in red and a party was hosted by Mr Wightman and Mr Baillie. We were put into teams and all evening there was a competition between the3 groups of students.
The party started with a quiz about the Lunar New Year and this was followed by two games. One of these games involved passing a balloon around the group without using your hands. It was really fun and exciting.
Everyone enjoyed it and we had a fantastic night. - Sarah Lui
Clarks Village
We took a trip to Clark's village and it took just under 2 hours to get there. When we arrived we noticed that the area was really nice and rather big, which surprised us as we thought it would be quite small. There were a lot of shops and there were lots of different brands which we were all familiar with. Almost everything was on sale which was very good because we could then buy more things. After all the shopping we were exhausted and so we found a café. We had a sit down and a nice hot cup of hot chocolate. This was just what we needed as it was a cold day.
We feel that Clarks village was a very beautiful and fun place to visit, as the area was different to where we usually are, and so it was a nice change. It is a place that we would definitely like to go back to. - Sophie Strange
Trip to Totnes
We arrived at Totnes for a boarders' school trip. Some of us were going to paint pottery at China Blue and then do some shopping. There were so many things to choose from to paint. I enjoyed painting the pottery, as I like art; I painted a jug with chickens on it for my Mum's birthday. - Helen Springett Yr 9
Claire's Birthday
As I am away from home for a year I was, to be quite honest, not looking forward to my birthday; a day that would remind me of how far away I actually am from my family and friends and I would have to suffice with only a short phone call. To my surprise, my birthday actually turned out to be a really enjoyable experience. Everyone went out of their way to ensure I had the best day possible, with the girls in junior boarding making me cards and the girls in senior boarding all signing a lovely card for me. I received many cards and gifts from so many generous and kind people.
Then, quite unexpectedly, Becky and Jodie took me to the sixth form centre where everyone from both junior and senior boarding was waiting to throw me a surprise party. There I had my third cake of the day (yes really!) and food and music! Thank you to everyone for making my day so special! - Claire Henry GAP student
Trip to Diggerland
I had a really great time at Diggerland. I have never driven any cars before and it was the first time that I could drive real diggers and dumpers. Actually some of them were quite easy to control. There were also some mobility games which are a change from the diggers. It was fun. I am now a genuine Junior Digger Driver! - Kate Lai Yr 10
Mothers Day
Boarders from both houses donned their aprons for some fun cookery. The theme was Mother's Day and Easter cookery and we had some very colourful results. Paige and her team made some very delicate pale pink cupcakes.
Meg and Deeon teamed up with Emily and went for the fluorescent look with four stunning different flavours of icings. Maria from Germany, wanted to learn how to make perfect Devon scones and on her second attempt, they were!
Venus and her friends made Easter biscuits using rabbit and other animal cutters. A day thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Thorpe Park
We woke up early on Saturday and we were all very excited! When we got there, we could see the Stealth Ride and some of the other huge rollercoasters. Our First Stop was the Vortex! It was a long wait but it was worth while! At the end Helen and I went onto another huge rollercoaster. We went pale faced just as we got on but it was so good we went on twice! I had an amazing day! - Anastasia Korotkova Yr
