At Stover Preparatory School we recognise individual pupils' specific gifts or talent in any area. This may include aspects of the academic curriculum, sport, music, drama or fine arts.
Pupils with such gifts or talents are added to our Gifted and Talented register. Those with an area of academic talent have an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) with targets set for their specific area such as creative writing or mathematics problem solving. The other pupils are involved in setting their own targets for their IEPs along with their teacher here at Stover Preparatory School. Progress is then carefully tracked with new targets being developed, as needed. Mathematics and Creative Writing workshops are also held for talented pupils. Our Art Department holds an annual Gifted and Talented Art Day for identified pupils in Years 5 and 6,
working with the SPS Art Co-ordinator and Head of Senior School Art. Pupils have the opportunity to spend a whole day working with a variety of media. Recent workshops have included working with a professional set designer to create scenery for our Preparatory School Production. Pupils demonstrating musical talent have the opportunity to join the auditioned SPS Chamber Choir, the Senior School Choir and the Senior Orchestra providing the opportunity to perform to a variety of audiences. Pupils demonstrating talent for sport may be invited to train with older pupils and to represent their school in teams in year groups above their own.
