Head of Modern Foreign Languages
From September 2018 we are looking to appoint a Head of Modern Foreign Languages

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and creative practitioner who will oversee a small but ambitious department in one of the South West’s
leading non-selective, co-educational independent schools. They will have experience of delivering excellence in the classroom and the ability to teach Modern Languages from KS3 to A Level.

Stover School has an extensive programme of exciting activities that form part of its Sporting and Additional Curriculum. The candidate must be able to
demonstrate an ability to contribute towards this provision and support the life of the school outside normal teaching commitments.

House Tutor 

Boarding House Tutor (Gap Year)

Responsible to: Houseparent and Head of Boarding

Hours of work: Dependent upon experience and involving a part residential post requiring some evening and weekend duties

House Tutors are usually individuals seeking experience in a school environment before proceeding to Higher or Post Graduate Education. They are expected to show leadership qualities and to be a role model to the pupils. Each House Tutor’s timetable consists of assisting different departments across the school, with particular emphasis on PE and the Boarding House. The House Tutor will be expected follow the Staff Code of Conduct as outlined in the Safeguarding Policy and will undergo the associated safer recruitment checks prior to commencing the post.

Roles and Responsibilities

-          Support (and where appropriate lead) teaching sessions.

-          Support (and where appropriate lead) school teams and fixtures.

-          Organise extra-curricular activities for day and boarding pupils.

-          Support the administrative work of the Boarding and school departments

-          Follow the routines of the school and boarding day.

-          Work in a team and show initiative.

-          Mentor the boarders.

-          Supervise boarding prep (homework) sessions.

-          Supervise meal times.

-          Supervise boarders away from school on trips, appointments and activities.

Holidays

The House Tutor’s holidays follow the school term dates. At the beginning of each term, all school staff, including the House Tutor are required to return for INSET days. House Tutors are required to be available the day after the end of term, to help with the house closed down for the holidays.

The Job Description forms the basic requirements of the post and can be updated when required by the Headmaster in liaison with the staff concerned.

Salary     £4,500 - £10,000 depending on experience and age

Accommodation and all meals whilst living on site are provided by the school.
